You can find up-to-date quotes of the 3 most important indexes (S &P500, Dow Jones, Nasdaq) in the front page of finance.yahoo.com and finance.google.com Additionally, business TV stations such as CNBC, Bloomberg, or Fox Business Network show the indexes continuously. Hope that helps! |

Stock market is generally open 5 days a week (Monday to friday). On these days you can watch TV and get the market movements. You can also install a index widget in you blog to see the detailed movements. You can also use google finance for detailed portfolio watch |

By current movement do you really mean the current direction of movement? Are you asking how to predict where the market is going so you know whether to be in or out of the market? If that is what you are trying to ask, good luck. We would all like to know the answer t that question. The only sensible stock market investment strategy is to buy a broadly diversified portfolio in a low cost way like in a low-cost index fund and hold it for a long time. There has been no 20 year period for which data is available during which stocks have failed to provide better returns than safer alternative. That does not mean it will always be so, but over long periods, you have a very high probability of enjoying decent returns. Some would say that you cannot know how any stock or stock index is going trade at any time in the future. Others say it is possible and some have had success trading stocks or stock indexes. Those who are successful follow a few indexes or stocks very closely. They know as much as possible about these stocks or indexes. They develop a personal feel for how they trade and watch carefully for news that could change the way they trade. Trading is very competitive for every winner there is a loser. If you want to win, you have to find a competitive advantage. This will take work. I just buy and hold. |
