Question: Where can i get pre-qualified for a home loan (not pre-approved)?

I am getting on a local program where I live and the program asks that I provide a pre- qualification letter from a lender. The program specifically asks for a pre- qualification letter from a lender and not pre- approval.

The same place that you would get an actual mortgage - a bank.

You aren't limited to banks, you can also go to any mortgage lender. What you are after, a prequalification, is what you would get anyway. Just don't pay any lender for a prequalification. The reputable lenders don't charge, so ask if there is a charge before they start the prequal process and if they charge, go somewhere else.
